AI Final Logo

This is my Adobe Illustrator design logo final draft. It represents my overall class subject of “Animals” and how they are very important to me. My inspiration for this logo design was the Woodland Park Zoo, which is a zoo in Seattle, Washington, where I work in the summer and winter.

Going into more depth about my logo, I put both a sun and clouds in my logo because, especially this summer, the zoo was so much fun rain-or-shine. The zoo sits on 70+ acres of land, which is why I added the trees. In this final draft, I added more detail to the natural aspects of the logo. Also I centered the shadows under my trees which was a critique of someone (even though the were off centered because the sun was in the middle off the pictures which would result in an off centered shadow…) The pathway in the middle is leading to the zoo as if the zoo was “the light at the end of the tunnel.” On the pathway I have added lines to make the pathway more recognizable as a side waWPZLogolk-type path. I put a thick black border around the image with the words “The Woodland Park Zoo” around it because I felt it made it look clean and sleek kind of like the BMW logo. In this final draft, I changed the font type to a more aesthetically pleasing font that fits the circular shape better as well.

When thinking about how to make my logo, I think the article found at http://jsbmorse.com/4-principles-of-great-logo-design/ was the most helpful to me. My logo follows many basic design principles. For example it has use of space, form, consistency and clarity. My coloring is very unique which I think makes it personal and cool looking. The logo is also very functional and would look good on any color background in my opinion. The Logo represents the company greatly because the zoo was all about the outdoors and nature and one can see that immediately in my logo. My background is very unique because I used a blend of blue and brown which I faded together using the gradient tool. I used blue for a nice sky color, which blends, into the brown, which represents a natural ground color.

Final Graphic Collage

Collage for Web

This is my final graphic collage representing my topic of Animals! I receive a lot of great constructive criticism and definitely tried to improve my collage based on those critiques. Everyone in my group really liked my topic and how unique it was. Also I received a lot of good feedback based on how well I edited my pictures in order to get the animals to really pop out of the page! When first editing the pictures, I changed the contrasts and vibrancies on all of the pictures in order to get the colors of the animals to really look kind of 3D by really standing out from their backgrounds! I didn’t want any animal to stand out more than another so I decided to keep all 6 pictures equally the same size and shape so that all could be truly appreciated. For a couple of the images I used the Black and White feature to really get the animals to pop out which came out very nicely! Some other feedback I got was to take off my labels for each animal because they said that the animals were well known (even though there are various species of each animal which are not well known), so in my final collage I took off the labels which I do agree does look a little cleaner as a whole. Also in my rough draft I did not get great feed back on my red background, so I decided to change to a more animalistic background which I used zebra-print! I think this is a lot more fun and also blends into the pictures much better! I think that I had great improvement from my rough draft to my final draft and I really appreciate the criticism from my group members because it really helped my bring together the collage and make it into a wonderful piece of art!

Draft Graphic Collage

Photo-Collage

This is my draft graphic collage for my topic I will be covering this year: Animals. I chose this topic because of my love for animals and experience working at the Woodland Park Zoo. My collage has various pictures of my favorite animals at the zoo which I worked at. The only picture I used from someone else was the picture of the otters which I used from the Woodland Park Zoo’s Instagram account.

When thinking about what my collage should look like, I decided I did not want it to be a messy collage which pictures overlapping. I wanted it to have a clean, balanced look so each picture could be appreciated equally. I used various tools for editing my pictures from the tutorials we did this past week. I used the levels, curves, hue/saturation, black & white tools and much more in order to get the correct colors to pop out and to get a fun look at these animals. Using these elements help contribute to my narrative because it helps show how beautiful and fun animals can be. This allows me to share my passion and spark interest in others when it comes to animals which hopefully will help animals by having more people appreciating them and helping conserve them.

In the collage itself, I used a red background to make the pictures pop out and evenly spaced the pictures apart to give t a clean and ascetically pleasing design. I used text boxes to show each type of animal. I used black font for each picture to keep it consistent and placed the text in areas where they would stand out most. My favorite pictures in the collage are the ones of the bears and the elephants. In these pictures I used the black & white element, then recolored the animals which give the images a 3D like feel with the colors bursting from the black & white background.
